|Lauren Becker, Thailand|
Lauren Becker is a new missionary serving her first term in Chiang Mai, Thailand. God called her to missions in ninth grade, and began to put in her heart a love for foreign language, travel, and especially the lost. She spent her childhood in Ventura, Callifornia and then set off for Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri. In 2006, she went with a team from Evangel to serve in Chaing Mai, Thailand for two months. She was struck by the spiritual darkness in a country that is 95% Buddhist and less than 1% Christian. Over that summer, she fell in love with all things Thai, and couldn't get it out of her system. She returned the following year to lead the Evangel team, and it was on that trip that God directed her to come back to Thailand for a long-term assignment.
Now on the field, she is working with TLC Church, establishing a Coffee Talk English Center, a place where university students can study English and build relationships with Christians. By offering English classes in a comfortable atmosphere, they will be able to make friends with students and show them the love of Christ. This opens the door to the Gospel.
